Remember the following things about class on Monday:
Your papers are due on Monday, October 18th. I will leave a drop box outside of my office, LA 229 (or if I’m there you can hand them to me. I haven’t decided!) If you feel weird about leaving them outside you can slide the paper under my door, just beware it will likely get stepped on. Qualifications for the papers are as follows:

1. The paper itself. Typed, double spaced, well written and excellent. 700-1,000 words, doing all that stuff I said it should do.
2. Your sources listed on a separate page, if you have them. No specific formatting required.
3. If you didn’t turn in an outline/sketch/rough draft to me on Wednesday, or you emailed it to me, please turn one in with your paper. Otherwise I have a copy and will include it in your packet myself.
4. Whatever workshopping that was done for your paper, please attach. Remember to take special care of this because you’re responsible for your partner’s work.
5. A letter to me (typed or hand written) where you answer the following questions: how was the writing experience for you? What worked and what didn’t? Talk to me generally about what I should know when approaching my evaluations.
Make sure it’s all bound together in some way (paperclip, folder, etc.)

Remember: We are not meeting on Monday. We will come back together as a class on Wednesay.

Blog Assignment (Due Wednesday. Comments due on Friday.)
This is an assignment my students invented last semester. I mean, I don’t think they invented it, but they suggested we do it and it was a smashing success. I’ll do it for you here and you are required to spots the lie.

Two truths and a lie about Molly:

1. I was the salutatorian for my graduating class in high school (meaning I had the second highest GPA.) I feel that I was cheated out of the top honor because the actual validictorian just took gym and a lot of easy classes, whereas I had a full schedule of AP classes, extra curricular activities and other stuff. It’s trite, but ten years later I am still bitter about this.
2. I was not born in a hospital. I was born at home in my mother’s bedroom with midwives. My mother has a scrapbook complete with pictures of the birthing process that she keeps under her bed. I found out later it’s actually illegal to be born at home, which makes me an outlaw from day one.
3. My dad is the bass player for a regionally successful cover band back in South East Michigan. They’re called “Ruff Edgez” and they sing mainly classic rock from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and today. My Dad is the bass player but he acts like the front man. He talks to the crowd a lot in between songs. He sings back up vocals on all the Tom Petty covers.

In the comment field, try to guess which one of these is the lie.

I want you to get your own posts up by Wednesday, and then you’ll read everyone’s posts and guess the lies by next Friday.

We’ll be starting the reflective essay unit on Wednesay. It’s going to be a fun paper I think. No research!

I’ll see you on Wednesday!
